What is a Safety Sensitive Employee?
Part of the DOT’s drug testing program involves those employees that require testing. Specifically, all “safety-sensitive” employees require drug testing under these regulations. According to the DOT, a safety-sensitive employee is any worker that:
- Drives commercial motor vehicles like trucks, buses, and specific heavy equipment, or;
- Whose job performance can impact the safety of others
